Where can you check deposit protection in your country?

Start with the institution responsible for the relevant jurisdiction. Deposit protection depends on the bank, product, currency and depositor; this directory does not assume a single worldwide coverage limit.

Based on the IADI member directory reviewed on 20 October 2026. This first edition lists 33 countries, not every country or every national scheme. Lire en français.

Find a country or institution

Search the country name or choose a region. Follow the institutional link to check the current rules and the membership of your bank.

33 countries shown

What should you verify with the institution?

  1. The bank: check the exact legal entity and its membership, including the treatment of a foreign branch. A familiar brand is not enough to establish coverage.
  2. The depositor: check whether your category of holder is eligible, including companies, associations or non-residents where relevant.
  3. The deposit: check eligible products and currencies, exclusions, limits, aggregation across accounts, joint-account treatment and payout conditions.
  4. The applicable date: use the institution’s current information and ask it to clarify the rules that apply to your situation.

Does a directory entry mean my money is protected?

No. These are institutional references from the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI). An entry does not establish the eligibility of a particular bank, product or depositor. More than one scheme may operate in a country; the institution shown may not be the only relevant authority.

Why are there no worldwide coverage comparisons?

A headline amount without its date, currency, eligible products and aggregation rules can be misleading. Use the relevant authority’s own guidance rather than transferring the rules of one country to another.
